Aldeburgh Beach South LOOKOUT

The Aldeburgh Beach South LOOKOUT run by art dealer Caroline Wiseman is ‘a tiny temple for artists, poets, writers, performers and thinkers’. Since opening in 2011, the space has offered over 50 residencies to diverse artists including our long-time client Amy Stephens. Using direct measurements taken from both the interior and exterior of the building, the artist created architectonic coloured forms which were then painted directly onto photographic images of the existing architecture. John Jones were pleased to present this new body of work within a series of bespoke frame designs, hand-made by UK based craftspeople to a museum quality. Each frame has been cut, sanded and joined by hand from high quality tulip wood before being sprayed to a warm white finish. Each piece is protected by our highest quality frame glazing, containing a UV filter and low glare coating for long-term conservation. The interior of the frame is constructed from acid-free materials to safeguard the artwork against staining and deterioration often caused by cheap, poor quality mounts.
