In March 2010, British artist Nicola Green joined the John Jones artist residency programme to complete and curate the series ‘In seven days’ before an exhibition in the U.S. This creative project was inspired by Green’s visit to the states in 2008 to witness Barack Obama’s Presidential Campaign. The photographs, sketches and conversations that the artist collected during encounters with Obama, press, campaign staff and citizens resulted in seven large serigraph prints. These function as a distillation of Nicola’s experience of this story of the American people, a historic campaign and the response of the global community. Together they stand as a thoughtful, visual interpretation of the potential for social change, the unique American journey, and the struggles and achievements of the Pan-American community.
"The work is a deconstruction of what hope really is; a reflection on what future generations can take from this moment in history." Nicola Green
"The support and expertise Nicola has received from the amazing team at John Jones has been crucial to the development of this work."
