Finsbury Park Regeneration

About the area
Finsbury Park is an area of north London which grew up around an important railway interchange at the junction of the London Boroughs of Islington, Haringey and Hackney. The surrounding area has a multicultural, cosmopolitan feel, reflected in the wide variety of shops and cafes on Seven Sisters Road, Blackstock Road and Stroud Green Road. A stone’s throw from Arsenal Football Club, the area is home to 14,500 people and has a strong cultural heritage. Sex Pistols musician Johnny Rotten and internationally acclaimed photographer Don McCullin were both born in Finsbury Park and the area continues to attract creative individuals.

Significant funding, time and energy is being invested by local councils to continue to improve Finsbury Park. We saw the start of the City North development in 2013 – a large mixed use scheme bringing residential towers and retail, plus improvements to the station, all to be completed by 2016. In 2016 we’ll also be welcoming University of the Arts London students to a new accommodation scheme next to John Jones, encouraging a new group of young, creative people to blossom in the area. All of these exciting new projects will involve public art – check out our Twitter feed @johnjonesltd for news, information and feedback.
